Been joining a lot of Ordinals discussions on Twitter Spaces the last week with NFT people to try to connect with that community.

Hearing a lot of nonsense from them re: Bitcoin pre-ordinals.

Crypto people *actually* think there’s only ~600 devs working on Bitcoin projects.

They actually believe that Bitcoin had a “toxic community” until ordinals.

I tried explaining that they have all been sleeping on Bitcoin second & third layer development, sidechain development, global bitcoin adoption as well as bitcoin-adjacent projects like Nostr, Holepunch, Hypercore etc.

These folks now believe they are bringing culture, fun and diversity to Bitcoin.

What is this psychological phenomenon called?

They think bitcoin had a security budget problem, and because of them, bitcoin security is now fixed.

To their credit, the majority of them all seem to revere BTC and the Bitcoin blockchain.

Lots of this behavior, although they don’t “attack” bitcoiners (except Udi who always does) they do mostly keep it positive.

All I know is that it’s the beginning of the next cycle of mass bitcoin adoption.

I don’t think so yet.

I still think we’re a year or 2 away from that.

Somehow this makes me a bit uneasy about all the potential bs that’s going to happen during the next bull…

It’s called “I just learned [a little more] about Bitcoin, and I’m here to fix it”.

I've been joining a lot of them too. Most know nothing about Bitcoin adoption across world. To be fair, I know nothing about their chains and communities either.

That’s ok because knowing their chains and communities is not worth much.

Udi is a prick!

Yeah whatever I mean as long as they adopt and understand more about Bitcoin how they feel doesn’t really matter. Seeing Bitcoin as a static thing from outside is a trap very easy to fall. I used afraid ETH might be the winner in the arms race in this Crypto World. Now I can’t even believe my own naïveté. So give them time, there are a lot to digest. Once they understand it there is no going back anyway.

Udi, Craig, Gavin and people like them are the real threat, don't underestimate the evilness.

Ignorance and conceit -> gaslighting ?

It’s not really gaslighting, they aren’t doing it for nefarious reasons, they are high on their own supply.

Sounds like a coping mechanism as they culturally adapt.

Followed 🤙

It’s plain fatuousness, with infinite supply of confirmation from their echo chamber.

I listened in on a few Spaces too. You’re assessment is spot on. The majority I’ve heard seem to think they are saving bitcoin. Also, it’s insane how much they love NFTs. I mean my brain cannot comprehend the attraction, but to each his own, I guess. It does seem that they know being on the Bitcoin blockchain is much more valuable than the other options. I don’t know why Udi hates bitcoiners so much but he takes cheap shots whenever he can. He seems to love all the attention these shitcoiners give him thinking he’s something special. Being off Twitter for Bitcoin conversations feels so good.

People who like NFTs are the types of people who don't think rationally or logically because they can't actually think for themselves, thus they're just following along on a trend set up last bull market by hype & dump VC fraudsters.

happy that on nostr its pretty much bitcoin only right now

Tribalism'd

I was trying hard to find the correct label for the neuroses. Something like a hero complex: "I'm new to Bitcoin, here's how we fix it"

What I stumbled into was Lima Syndrome:

"An inversion of Stockholm syndrome, called Lima syndrome, has been proposed, in which abductors develop sympathy for their hostages."

Not exact, but funny in this context.

It’s called shitcoin mental gymnastic 🤣
