People talk about orange pilling vendors to accept bitcoin so much. It's generally a huge headache for the business unless they are passionate about it.

In the end I imagine they'll probably be accepting bitcoin without even realizing it.

You said the real point. They should be passionate about it first.

Yup, most don't care. Sadly. They'll start accepting it at the price they deserve 🤷‍♂️

Bitcoin is only for the brave...

One day, they'll probably accept bitcoin without even realizing it. Probably so. It's like using a car to get from point A to point B—you don't need a full understanding of how the engine is built.

But! For the next few years at least, I'd prefer to see more aware merchants. Not the kind who just get fiat on their end while I'm paying in sats, but those who actually understand the value of what I'm sending and treat it with care.

I also don't think it's such a "pain"; some systems make it pretty smooth for the business. The real problem probably lies in there still not being enough people paying in BTC, especially in the western hemisphere.

Vendors want new business..

They don't want to be stuck with magic internet money just yet.

This will change.

Better to give them other pills imo, like Xanax, codeine, paracetamol etc. if they’re really up for it, move on to pregabalin or something.

When everyone is using btc without realising it, that also means that its 100% trapped in custodial wallets

In the event that people are denominating their lives in BTC, but not holding self custody we would have made a significant improvement for civilization.

Not perfect, there will always be room for improvement, but there are many tools that need to be built before we can get to a place where some degree of self custody and privacy is guaranteed.

Eventually these tools may be so user friendly and cheap that people switch to them without realizing it as well.

Wonderful!

Through centralized, custudial services and infrastructure that tracks everyone. This is not what Satoshi Nakamoto wanted! This is not what we want!

Assuming the specific intentions behind a founders creation, placing value on a founders intention for the creation, and lumping one's view with the views of others are all common mistakes in thinking about open source protocols.
