It’s definitely been a drag ten years on. The BitLicense doesn’t just affect the city of over 8 million people, it covers the entire state of about 20 million. Sadly, I remember when these rules were first being discussed, and how some of the most vocal opponents to it rolled over and became champions once the rules were in place. It’s hard to imagine how much creative and technical talent was lost because of it. It’s as if the state decided to unilaterally opt-out of the revolution, and they sold it to us as looking out for our best interests.
I should also mention that I’ve since parted ways with the bar and I’m currently building my own business to help onboard the next wave of local merchants.
