Mean words😅

According to invertebrates.

Use of force upon another human?

So if I push my daughter down the slide , is that violence?

Depends how hard you push I guess? 😂

That's interesting. The idea of adequate force.

There is a sliding scale for sure, and the amount needed depends on the situation. Extremely subjective.

And not all violence is wrong or unnecessary either. It depends on how it's applied, what the intent is, and whether the one using it has the restrain to do it correctly.

To physically hurt another.

So there is no violence in watching someone getting hurt ? The movies for example, does that count?

I know what is typically understood as violence, I'm just exploring it.

A response where civility has failed or been repeatedly rejected. An expense of full energy use to deter future bouts of incivility.

What do you mean by civility?

Civility:

The general, defacto, rules agreed upon by a group or dictated to convey mutual gains under the umbrella of threat of expansions of energy.

A sort of prisoner dilemma where gains are made for all, not equally just a better situation, than one that is nasty brutish and short.

Yes you’re watching violence

Actors aren't really physically harming each other.

But the perception is there

So the perception of violence is infact violence?

You can't be violent to yourself?

Yes you can if you physically hurt yourself on purpose

Is suicide violence?

Does BDSM fit this description of violence?

Yes it does.

BDSM refers to a range of sexual preferences that generally relate to enjoyment of physical control, psychological control, and/or pain.

That fits into what nostr:npub1g3827ewz6d23rlgdhkaslc78gyule52ymcqdyt2hsxdwtlw8dt5q7dfpvgwas saying. That violence isn't by necessity, bad.

Yeah that is a kinda violent 😂

I've had violent diarrhoea but we won't go into that.

No wonder it’s coming out arseways 😂

XD

Stop shitting out my npub, dude! That's not my kink 😂

What IS your kink Renegade, for the record?

I think he’s pretty much in everything and anything 😂

I'd say there's a few bull whips lying around that aren't strictly for farm use.

And probably some spiky collars and leads that are not entirely used on his animals either 😂

Don't be ridiculous. Fluffy pink collars surely?

And plenty of feathered boas, no wonder he has loads of poultry around 😂

Is what we are doing right now violence?

Nope not us, perhaps he’s doing something violent since he’s not responding to us 😂

He is actually. He's violently zapping folk.

😂😂

Mainly kinetic energy. Sometimes psychic energy, I guess. In emotional violence - not the Darth Vader force grip

Psychic violence is something I did not anticipate entering into this discussion. What is psychic violence?

To cause physical pain

So if I shot someone in their sleep, in the head , killing them instantly, that wouldn't be violence?

I see what you mean. Let’s broaden the definition to cause physical harm

In what way is pain different from harm?

Harm is more like a physical injury. Pain is a sensation

Okay , so you can harm someone without causing them pain?

Definitely. The person who gets shot in the head in their sleep and dies instantly doesn’t feel pain. Same for the guy in a wheelchair who gets his leg cut off.

Both are harmed

Is suicide harm?

Yes. It’s definitely harm but not necessarily pain. Depends on the method

I guess the pod would be causing physical injury to the person inside. So harm yes

And therefore, by your definition, violence?

Pretty much I guess

I've learnt so much from talking to you, thank you.

Definitely an interesting conversation. Thank you as well

So if violence is physical harm , and harm does not require awareness of being harmed or pain (visa vi the person shot in the head) , then everything is violence. Crushing a beer can before putting it into the garbage, tearing a sheet of paper, breaking a glass, grinding coffee beans.

A beer can, a sheet of paper, a glass, coffee beans. Those are all inanimate objects.

I see where you’re by going with this, or at least I think. Harm needs to be done on a human or an animal

Is it the potential of the thing being harmed therefore , to feel pain, or to be aware that harm was done, that defines harm, regardless of whether or not that is the case in the specific instance.

In other words, is harm dependent on having the potential to be aware and to feel?

Harm is dependent on being alive. So yes.

Or if I sawed off a paraplegic's leg?

No pain but harm. I changed the definition under your other note

I see that now. Cheers.
