Units should just be an in-app user preference. If you want to call it bits, sats, kernels or FUs so be it. Just swap the UI for whatever you prefer.

The term sats is now entrenched, so why change it. It is as you say such a sill thing. This debate seems to add zero value. I have not seen anything that supports an increased bitcoin adoption rate when its changed.
