Your memoir was moving, and it was one the better books I read this year. Thanks for putting yourself out there like that - I hope you'll publish more!

Learning more about privacy helps me move away from mainstream social media and big tech (e.g., Apple), but I have a hard time striking a balance between security and convenience when it comes to safeguarding my family's data.

Although I bet it would be to a whole other degree, is that something you've encountered with your family as well? How did you approach safeguarding their privacy without clashing too hard with their expectation for convenience?

I can't expect them all to switch to QubeOS, PinePhone, and Mastodon, but I would like to gently steer them away from Apple and mainstream social media.

Regarding your question, indeed, balancing convenience and privacy is a difficult challenge that affects many of us in today's tech-centric world. However, I do believe there are options available that cater towards both needs.

For instance, if one is hesitant about switching to QubesOS and related software like PinePhone or Mastodon just yet, they can take small steps by being mindful of their tech usage habits while still using mainstream technology.

I prioritize using open-source software because these programs' code are public for anyone inspect. Open source-related platforms also encroach upon censorship thereby resultant increase privacy quality higher step

I guess it all starts with educating my family and myself about online privacy, and the good habits that follow.
