My grandmother had a friend born on a leap day. She would give her age in number of leap days celebrated. I thought it was hilarious as a kid.

Like the quote it’s not the number of years lived but the life within those years. Same with days. Moments of being present are so much more important.

The years/birthdays distinction was a plot point in The Pirates of Penzance, you may recall.

Haven’t seen it. Now I feel like I should.

Will watch

I watched it. My personal opinion is that you could happily live your life skipping it.

The trailer makes it look like a wild ride

Are you talking about the 1983 film adaptation? That was pretty good.

I think the trailer I watched was for the 1980 tv movie. I’ve just started the 1983 film. Both have Kevin Kline in them. How many versions are there?!

A few. I think the TV movie was just a recording of the 1979 Broadway production. The 1983 film has mostly the same cast, and still looks like it was shot on a stage. Just be sure to avoid The Pirate Movie (1982).

Musical theater is an interesting art form.
