To the extent of my knowledge Nostr is a protocol and Twitter is a centralised platform. These are by no means the same thing.

True Nostr feels like a mimic of X however that is only true to the extent that it was the most obvious starting point for Nostr adoption.

Because Nostr natively entwines freedom of speech with micro payments backed by monetary truth (Bitcoin) then you have a protocol that can walk into any market suffering from abuse of power or restriction of innovation and disrupt it.

What does Nostr provide beyond the functionality of Twitter (besides the obvious decentralization)? If I hear that we are building a new internet, I’d love to understand more of the use cases of what Nostr can replace.

Nostr can eat Google search via V4V model. Nostr can eat Apple Music and Spotify. Do you remember back in the day when YouTube had an element of open citizen journalism about. Nostr will be YouTube in a far better way.

All the private subscription media content platforms like medium, sub stack etc will get out competed by Nostr.

Most people underestimate the power of the Nostr/Bitcoin alliance.

The internet has been desperate for micropayment value for value (V4V) exchange since the late 90s. The whole reason we ended up with distorted revenue models like the selling of consumer traffic data is because there was no meaningful way to handle V4V at a micro scale.

Nostr also sits squarely outside the existing financial system. This is a huge advantage.

You could go on and on all day. Perhaps pick an industry you care about and let's discuss.

i don't think that LN and V4V are a single thing

i think that the lack of micropayments led to an advertiser based model, sure, but V4V is some kooky donation nonsense socialist bleeding heart nonsense, and just because socialist street preachers accept coins and because socialist governments have moneys doesn't mean they are promoting commerce, the opposite... just read up on what Lenin said about debasing currency so people become dependent on the state

no, this is the purest kind of capitalism, one that works peer to peer and without any overseer

v4v is hooey injected by, likely, spook provocateurs

I meant P2P. I use those terms inter-operably when perhaps I shouldn't. The relevant factor for me is that payment occurs directly between relevant parties and settles at or very near the same time and this all occurs on a protocol that is semi decentralised.

There aren't too many industries we couldn't attack with this highly resilient model.

definitely it is a game changer and the rest of the internet will not figure this out for at least another year... so.. ONWARD!
