Citadel Island X. Exploration of how a small colony of connected floating sea residences might feel like. I modeled the structures in 3D inspired by Tatooine buildings albeit in steel and glass. The houses have three floors including the basement where the main living space would be.

Wow. That’s really cool!

Thanks Sikto! πŸ™

Do you have images of the interior layouts? Are the basements underwater, or are all three levels above sea level?

I have a basic 3D layout of the top two floors but haven't worked on it for a while. I'm not an architect so the beams might have to be greater and the windows smaller. I still have to flesh out the below deck apartment.

I love it!

How the external elevator shaft would look like:

With stairs it would look something like this. The stairs would alas take up much of the ground floor and block the window view. Having enclosed stairs would be even more of an annoyance.

I like the ladder and external elevator option.

The idea is that the below-deck apartment will have access to water-level deployment of boats. The whole Bond thing. πŸ˜„ If the mid section is compromised, an enclosed ladder or elevator would take you safely through down to water level where you could have means of escape. If electricity is out, ladder it is.

Ah, that view changes everything. I now understand :)

A quick view from the interior. Not a lot of space but since the main apartment is below, this is like a lookout salon.😎

I have made an optional elevator shaft that is operable from inside. It does alter the building silhouette though. The idea is to have a separate enclosed ladder plus the elevator. If you sleep on the second floor and the mid floor is compromised, you can either take the enclosed ladder or the elevator down to the below-deck apartment. Right now the ladder is shown without enclosure.

Yes, the elevator does change the look quite a bit. Would they be free floating or anchored to the shoreline in some way?

I'd expect that anchoring the homesteads by the coast inside a lagoon or within a rock-encircled bay with calm waters would be the ideal option for residency without sea sickness. But having the option to move them along the coast would make them flexible dwellings.

I meant to write that the main apartments are below-deck, not basements.πŸ˜„
