Gnutella was actually my dream protocol as far as anti-censorship goes but it did have some serious spam issues.

Its what Limewire uses, each peer/relay would keep track of the IP's of all others it knew and forwarded those to the client. They tried to nuke limewire from orbit and by default it can't connect anymore. Until you find a single working IP, then you have the whole network at some point. And it would self identify good ones which then took on more clients.

I'd love such a thing for Nostr but full P2P would need a way to agree to the authenticity of a timeline. Maybe the fact its a key pair here + client verified proof of work is enough but i'm no expert there. In theory if P2P nostr operates like Gnutella did its such a big swam of IP's that all the non malicious ones would keep importing the messages the bad ones try to filter. But this kinda approach will make true deletions very hard. Would have to be a signed delete request that once verified blocks the original from syncing.

To be fair, true deletions already don't work anyway
