People continue to be surprised that clicking "delete account" and typing "DELETE" deletes their account. Am i bad at design?
Discussion
People are just kind of retarded. It will never be simple enough for them.
wtf ?!?!
Seems straight forward to me
Did people mistakenly delete their accounts despite having a second warning prompt?
Wait, testing šš
I would call this "working as intended."
Deletes the private key? Or remotes the key from the device?
Itās a trap!
Since weāre talking about Nostr, what exactly does ādeleteā do? AFAIK there wasnāt an official spec for asking relays to delete content.
NIP-143
I think people are shocked at how easy it is compared to the tests you take from traditional platforms when deleting.
Not really. Itās actually good.
Please also note somewhere that āDELETE is not just a LOGOUT - itās forever Laura!ā
People learn a lot through pain. Ask every child itās stove story.
If you need help with design, pm me. But I think you are fine :) from what I see.
Nah man youāre good.
Final step should be shouting ādeleteā out on street between hours of 06:00 / 06:30
š¤£i certify u crazy, name of father, son and spiritu sanctusš
Well they're used to things like Facebook which take weeks or even months to actually delete anything.
One UI compromise could be to require people to enter in their seed (or part of their seed) for delete to work.
Should have been DELETEFOREVERTHISISPERMANENTANDCANTBEUNDONE
You forgot the prompt : āare you sure you want to delete your account? Because this will fucking delete your accountā
Buttons āfucking nuke itā - āabort missionā
Maybe you should insist by a third step āAre you very sure you want to delete? This is not a jokeā click āLoLā to exit, āOkā to really delete :)
Zap 1 sat to delete š
Hang on let me test
The problem for me was my profile was slow to load and kept seemingly loading old data from another priv key so I thought I was deleting that account but it deleted my main.
Purposeful delete of the wrong account
This is why ācaution: hot liquidsā warnings on coffee cups is a thing and people still act surprised when they get burned. Silly rabbit
Maybe the sentiment is: I deleted and typed DELETE but I didnāt want to delete my account(nobody wants). So maybe delete is not even shown, or light gray.
Havenāt tested that yet
Highly consistent design : if you can't delete a note, it follows that you can't undelete a deleted account ;-)
I absolutely thought this meant remove account from the app. It could definitely be more clear.
Because is not that?
What else can do?
I think that "Logout" is more semantically correct and follow the usual UX.
Having said that, a note "save your private key or you are fucked" could help.
Its so fun to play with this
So didnt get the time to press Delete
just do it as you can š
hh it is a clear step #[0]
š what do they expect. DELETE ACCOUNT!
Actually, Iād expect that ONLY the key is deleted from the device. There are no āaccountsā in Nostr.
although this is probably the funnier one: #[3]
Deletes or soft-delete? Usually the record can be marked as archived in database.
š i was thinking the same thing. If you delete your account - what did you expect to happen?
WTF? Seems pretty obvious to me. š¤¦āāļø

What were you thinking?
Not surprising, it's too terse. What does "delete account" mean? Does it just delete the account from the local device? Including text explaining what the ramifications of the action are will likely reduce the retardedness by a substantial amount.
Popular apps are bad at actually deleting. So much that we canāt believe something will be really deleted.
