I think it's a side effect of trying to live a Christian life. It's a worldview that encompasses every level of being, so it's bigger than any ideology.
I would agree with that. Add in 2000 years of organizational mess caused by humans and we really become complicated.
It’s amazing how complex simple values become, when they are so fundamental. I really doubt many people recognize how many of their higher order beliefs are built upon simple fundamental values, or how far views can diverge and become foreign to one another as they progress up the chain from different starting points.
Yeah the first thing you really have to do in any serious conversation these days is work backwards to find that shared point of departure. If you don't have that it's just a shouting match because views become mutually unintelligible when they diverge far enough.
