A great snapshot of the #AUStriches #HousingPonzi

2/3 of the people live in these 5 cities, it’s where all of the “jobs” are so there’s no viable way to escape and move somewhere else - it’s either bid against Chinese capital to buy, or rent from Boomers taking advantage of negative gearing which no one in Gov dare touch, who support mass immigration to keep demand high.

Genuinely, there will be no “Australia” left by the time this unravels.

Never thought I’d see Adelaide above Melbourne for affordability but here we are!

It’s strange to see but our nature is to hold on to things we’ve known for a long time even when they no longer hold true, but Adelaide is now an objectively better place to live than Melbourne.

As an Adelaidean, I completely agree 💜

It’s growing like crazy here. It’s got a bunch of folks from Central/South America and there are cranes everywhere constructing new buildings

The only cranes in Melbourne are building dogboxes no-one wants on Southbank and Docklands and infra projects run as money funnels for the CFMEU.

Adelaide was always going to become a big city, had the right ingredients from the start. It’s the only place I’d retire to in Aus, well there or the hills or Barossa.

Shhhh… don’t tell everyone that we’re surrounded by wine regions on 3 sides and a beautiful coastline on the other!

More people will want to come and live here 😂

unreal Adelaide on this list

Sydney? Sure. International city

Melbourne. Yep. Has money

Perth. Mining.

Brisbane. OK

Adelaide? What's Adelaide got???

(well apart from formerly cheaps houses that east coast boomers snap up after getting outbid at their local auctions)

Adelaide has arguably the best climate of any Aussie city, pretty good beaches, its by far the best planned city and small enough so as to not be a nightmare for traffic, it’s got the hills and the Barossa next door, very good healthcare and schools, access to very good food both from sea and land, Victor Harbour and KI a short trip away for holidays, and it’s renowned for festivals and arts.

It’s basically the ideal place for seniors or late career people.

Probably all it’s lacking is better flight connections but once you get on and don’t travel as much or as far, this becomes less of an issue.

It’s Australia’s version of Florida where seniors are going to want to go for comfortable retirement.

great city for sure

just wild it's less affordable than Melbourne or San Francisco or London, or all the other cities below it on that list

Concrete prisons.
