1066, England. William the Conquering just taken the throne.

Within months, he issues the Forest Laws.

Hunting deer is now forbidden to anyone below noble rank. The punishment isn't a fine. It's death.

Not execution by sword, which would be quick. Execution by hanging, slow strangulation, body displayed in the village square as a warning.

Sometimes they'd blind you first and let you starve instead. The cruelty was the point.

These weren't conservation laws. The deer population was massive. Herds roamed freely across thousands of acres of "royal forest" that just happened to include the land peasants had been hunting on for generations.

The real reason becomes clear when you look at what replaced venison in the peasant diet. Bread. Lots of bread. Grain-based gruel. Pottage made from whatever vegetables they could grow.

The lords continued eating venison. Multiple deer per week. Whole roasted boars. Fatty game birds. Their tables groaned with meat at every meal.

The peasants ate grain and were told it was God's will that only nobility could hunt. The Church backed this up with sermons about knowing your place in the divine order.

A peasant family could watch deer walk through their barley field, destroying their crop, and be executed for killing the deer to feed their starving children. The deer belonged to the king. The barley belonged to the king. The peasant belonged to the king. And the king ate venison while the peasant ate gruel.

This wasn't about protecting animals. It was about controlling protein access. A population fed on grain is weaker, more compliant, easier to manage. A population eating meat is stronger, more energetic, more likely to cause problems for the ruling class.

The Forest Laws stayed in effect for 800 years. Eight centuries of restricting meat to the elites while forcing the masses onto grain. And during those eight centuries, the peasant class got shorter, weaker, more disease-prone with each generation.

The nobility, eating their venison and boar, stayed tall and strong. You can see it in the armor. Noble armor from the 1400s fits a 5'10" man. Peasant remains from the same period average 5'3".

Same genetics. Different diets. The nobility ate what humans evolved eating. The peasants ate what they were allowed to eat.

The elites have always known: Control the meat supply, control the population.

of course it was backed by religious law always done with the blessing of the fucking church of course they could find proof this was right and holy

this is where im at too brother

and think this is why throuout history individuals dissatisfied with status quo turn their back on society and seek truth in solitude in a forest or somewhere secluded

i think the opportunities for large scale wholesale change are rare

there have to be enough people sufficiently pissed off that theyre out on the street protesting (physically or metaphorically) for sustained period

every power since dawn of time has known this and does their best to prevent and contain protest but again and again they ultimately grow too big and bureaucratic and collapse in on themselves

tl;dr

we are fighting a massive psyop so it may not happen anytime soon and so yes in meantime have to focus on ourselves and our loved ones , get ourself out of the matrix first and look for peace within

happy new year πŸ™

im neither expert nor even dev but yeah that's my understanding and exactly because of that issue but id have to actually go and look closer at blossom

k represents the decss c code in binary format in this video

i dont think the largest-prime-number-part of video is so relevant for our case its only k that represents code that can break or decrypt the (dvd) encryption

i think the large-prime-number part is more to do with k being 'illegal' and so is a distraction

distraction in sense that for us what is relevant is whether k exists or not whereas most of this video is about whether k was illegal or not and the ways the guy made sure the large prime could not be deemed illegal

so in relation to k my quick search on this issue is that a key was found in plain text on dvd player and so they were able to reverse engineer the encryption because it was relatively weak is 40 bits vs bitcoin 128 bits (?)

with bitcoin the cryptography is already public doesn't need to be reverse engineered it is well reviewed piece of code BUT just like in the dvd player where the implementation was shabby we have to be wary of any implementation in soft- or hardware wallet leaking our private key material or storing it in way where can be extracted

the alternative is brute forcing our private keys but my searching says that using current computation today 40 bit would take seconds while 128 bit there is not enough computational resources on earth to make that happen

so doesnt it come down to trusting an implementation of the library

say i was going to dabble in btc id generate private keys offline with sufficient entropy and make sure as best as i can they never are exposed to a network in any format

and imwoukd use open source well reviewed methods to sign transactions and all the while pay attention to other bits of advice like don't use old address types don't use single address more than once etc etc

what more can dumb pleb like me do

just seen other thread i missed while writing this reply

will watch the link cheers ✌

#bitcoin is freedom money

don't worry too much about society and the economy and the government and politics

these are all amorphous concepts that we let get us down

by ourselves we are never going to fix all society's problems

its just the way it is the natural state of the world is broken and problematic

but you can use the tools to extract yourself and your loved ones and your community from a system designed before you were born to extract all your time and energy

good to know
