Artists and musicians (even major, mainstream ones) used to be revolutionaries. Not afraid to take risks, take a stand. Now they’re all risk averse, sheepish.

What happened?

For instance, Nina Simone was a rockstar and revolutionary. She once said

“An artist’s duty, as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times.” She did that, paid the price often, but kept at it.

Capitalism happened.

"Art" became an "industry".

🫂

Fiat capitalism happened 🇺🇸

Some are still trying. Harder to make a living.

artists and musicians never stopped being revolutionaries

they just are not fed to consumers via algo or industry or macy's thanksgivings day parade

you have to find them

outsider art

and often they dont have email address or websites or social media

often they go missing

end up dead

Only the compromised are allowed to grow.

Modern Art was CIA PsyOp
