"Buy an EV, you'll save on gas" - whoops that means no gas tax.
Instead of adjusting the budget and spending less, they'll just find another way to squeeze money out of *everyone* - no matter if they already pay the gas tax or not.
California is considering changing Californians upto $0.30 per mile they drive in the whole state.

We have a serous $60b deficit this year.
$60b ($45b?) deficit is not due to the $200 million loss in gas taxes, it's due to out of control spending - but the solution is going to be taxing people into oblivion and stealing from your grandkids.
