I had a call today from a company asking if they could buy any used fryer oil from us. We don’t have any as we don’t fry at the bakery but it reminded me of when I ran a kitchen in London that try is was totally normal. The oil is bought and used to turn into bio oil. As a chef 15years ago I didn’t think any more than it was great that you could make some money off dirty chip fryer oil. But on reflection, the fact you can make fuel for a truck out of something we call heart heathy food is actually insane and makes no sense.
Is there other fuels we can make from food or is it just veg oil?
I guess whale blubber was used as lamp oil. Could that power a truck?
