Looks like amethyst is not treating nip27 mentions the same as nip08 mentions
And I wish I knew why Amethyst bogs down when accessing popular npubs...
I've asked many times, but have been ignored. The sad thing is that Amethyst is my favorite client and I recommend it to others...🥲
Too much info. It's also highly dependent on memory. The more you have the smoother it goes.

Please know that Iris and other clients (I don't like them; I prefer Amethyst features and UI!) handle this correctly, using means such as only loading perhaps a dozen notes at a time, or by loading with a background thread.
Simply limiting the #of notes you load from a particular npub at one time, then prompting the user--should be a quick, simple fix, no?🙏😁
I really believe this is hurting adoption of Amethyst; we can't all afford newer phones or more memory.😜🥲🤔😳😮

It's not just notes. The UI loads everything... Notes, long form content, zaps, reports, relays, followings, followers, polls, badges, likes, retweets, bookmarks and other lists as well as validating NIP05 and ln addresses while dynamically loading content as soon as they arrive in the phone.

It doesn't make sense to me why when I select the icon of a popular Nostrich everything locks up. Doesn't happen using other clients (e.g. Iris) under identical circumstances.
I really am a big Amethyst fan, and would love to see this fixed. I'd be happy to try any experiment you may have in mind that might help identify a fix for this...?🙏😁
