She charged at me and I ducked behind a tree then ran and jumped in a skid steer with forks on it and went back in. She charged at the forks and came to fast stop right at the tips. Drove it after her and chased her out of the fence with the baby close behind. I've been close to a bunch of single moose otherwise that were mellow, but that instinct kicked in on her.
Well holy shit. Thats insane. Them mamas dont play. I just cant really get in my head how big things are. I've seen enough pictures with something in it to put the size in context, but I always felt it was one of those things you had to see in person to fully apprciate its size.
Moose are big gangly things with legs way too long for the suasage bodies they have. Their eye sight is super poor but they are good swimmers and can mob through a dense forest with little trouble. Ours here close to the city are small to mid sized but head north 30 miles and they start to get a lot bigger. I 've been out running a couple miles from the farm and run right past moose standing less than 10 feet from me and they hardly react.
I find it quite interesting that they can swim at all let alone swim good. They look like something that would just sink like a rock.
