GrapheneOS Advice needed.

I want to buy a new google pixel 6, or 6 plus phone.

But I want to go to a store and pay cash - off the record.

I want to make sure it is - carrier unlocked.

But I also want to make sure the boot loader is unlockable also. (I think using the stores wifi, to install the latest version of software I can then get into the developer area and unlock the boot loader.

Then I want to install GrapheneOS.

Thanks everyone and anyone with advice.

I don't know if Best Buy would still sell last year's models, but if they did, that's an option for you.

Was just on the online store, not seeing the 6 which I want also

My nearby stores didn’t have in stock, but could get in a few days.

Thanks Derek. Best Buy can get it, but they require drivers license etc. to purchase. At Wal-Mart I have purchased burner phones (android - but not pixel) and had the cashier set up. Cash. No real info from me.

This is my goal but with Pixel- then GrapheneOS.

Pixel 7 is fine also.

Oh. I wasn't aware you need a driver's license to buy from Best Buy. Ugh. That's dumb.

Yes, I didn’t know either until I called them this morning. Seems like KYC is everywhere. I will get around it.. but they don’t make it easy.

Swappa.com is good of you don't mind used devices. Its not cash, but you're buying from an individual so.. 🤷‍♀️

I've purchased 3 mint condition phones and a macbook this way and have had zeoro issues.

I will check them out! Thank you

No problem 🤙

I now know where to go to buy a new(ish) Pixel once I get tired of the 6 Pro I currently have, or wear it out

Only Verizon permenantly lock bootloaders and prevent OEM unlock.

Others if buying second hand may require certain contract obligations to be met if still under one.

Besides that they should all work fine.

Thanks very much for the tip.
