nostr:npub18kzz4lkdtc5n729kvfunxuz287uvu9f64ywhjz43ra482t2y5sks0mx5sz wondering what is your hosting solution for cellar.nostr.wine?

- Does charging 1 SAT per note per year cover your costs?

- Do you pay egress or other fees aside from storage?

- If I were to look for a similar fee structure, what host would you recommend for ease of setup and maintenance?

The pricing model is experimental and I don’t really expect it to cover costs for now. We use hosts that include high bandwidth allowances (not big clouds) to avoid any additional charges.

Highly recommend Strfry as the relay and you could implement a pay-per-note strategy with their write plugin architecture.

Am I being dumb to prefer nostream over stirfry or nostr-rs-relay, simply because I know JavaScript and the learning curve would be less steep for ME alone to jump in and tweak configs or functionality?

(You and nostr:npub1qqqqqqyz0la2jjl752yv8h7wgs3v098mh9nztd4nr6gynaef6uqqt0n47m both recommend stirfry to me … is it THAT much easier to setup or maintain or what?)

No, that’s a reasonable approach too.

Strfry gets recommended because it scales better so the majority of large relays use it. You can write a write plugin in any language but it is true that making changes to the source puts you in C++ hell :)
