I’ve worked in technology my whole career and was in the military for the first half - when you see the rest of the world, and the USA/Anglo-American culture from a distance, and are forced to read military/economic history - some things are just self evident. Every empire falls, every civilization changes, cities mutate, companies die, in very predictable ways - it’s just that in the human experience - timing is everything - and that rarity of experience breeds complacency.
