I don’t use VPS’s personally. But I really hope you get a lot out of it!

so you're only running it at home on a rpi? over tor?

I’m running it at home, on an rpi with cloudflared 🫡

ah cool. cloudflare can proxy the node over clearnet? you're teaching me a lot here! 😂

Yes it can!

Cloudflared is a software that creates a secure tunnel between your local service and your clearnet DNS on cloudflare.

awesome! you really are self-sovereign! 🥹

It’s a beautiful system! However, something to keep in mind, if you want to port a start9 local services to cloudflared, you need to run pi-hole as well so that it can be a local DNS to pass the START9LONGSTRINGADDRESS.local requests to the correct ip address.

I should make a video about this too 😅

as much as i want to run this locally i am going to install it on my vps as a starting point. If the requirement grows I'd probably run a dedicated server. I won't run it on a rpi in any case, many years running raspiblitz turned me off that as a long-term solution!

I’ve heard that Raspiblitz ruined a lot of people, I’ve been running MyNode on an rpi for 3+ years with no issues at all. Even migrated from a 4Gb ram model to 8Gb ram model with no issues.

I didn't get ruined but definitely had to go through quite full-on recoveries more than once. A friend of mine who is less technical is still struggling. I ended up sending him my old hardware to try and recover his node. Critical data residing on an SD card is.... a risk!
