Yep, that was what went wrong.
Yes, he should have separated. Some engines failed to fire and lack of power caused spin and subsequent explosion. It could also be that they detonated it from the control center to prevent it from causing damage to the ground. The Starship has a bomb system that can be activated remotely. However, as I said before, they thought it would explode on the ground. There was little chance the launch would go well. This is only the first test. It was still a success!

Well, it got off the pad and about 40 km up in the air. So, the heavy lift booster works. One step at a time I guess.

Yeah it's weird that one selling point of the whole space program is "hey, our planet is getting spent, let's move to the next one". It should be about expanding, and not about running away from the current problems.
I understand your point, but I'm not against space exploration tho.
Think about it: we only have access to Earth's resources right now, and we're still doing well.
Imagine what we could achieve with the resources of the entire galaxy.
But right now we have to balance both.
It's a pipe dream the government has been lying to you. We've been on Earth For so Many years and nobody has. Gone Up there And when has the government ever told you the truth.. The moon landing was fake to make you think that they went to the moon. Why haven't they gone back to the moon? What haven't they come back to the mooh? That's right because they've never been.
