Pretty crazy to think that both Buddha and Osho were poisoned.

And Osho was the closest we could get to Buddha in the 20th century

The Buddha was poisoned?

Yes, the great Gautama Buddha was poisoned. This is the most important thing I learnt in a long long time

Yeesh. I didn’t know demigods could be poisoned.

there are several interesting aspects to that.

one is that since the Buddha had predicted 3 months earlier that he would die, a case can be made that this amounted to suicide (re suicide, there was a time when speaking of another monk who had taken his life that the Buddha said or implied that the monk acted blamelessly, meaning that the monk had first achieved full enlightenment).

another is that among the Buddha's last instructions to Ven Ānanda was the instruction that if anyone should fault Cunda the blacksmith for feeding the Buddha bad food, they should be told that the Buddha himself said that the meal provided by Cunda was equal in merit to the rice milk given by Sujāta just prior to the Buddha's attainment of enlightenment 40 years earlier.

there are many noteworthy events that occurred in the months leading up to the Buddha's death: the conversation with Māra that completed the conversation begun 40 years earlier, intervening between which was the Buddha's fulfillment of the request made by Brahma that the Buddha teach Dhamma until there was a solid assembly of monks and nuns and male and female lay followers, the conversation with Ven Ānanda at the Capala shrine in Vesali and elsewhere when the Buddha hinted that he had the ability to extend his life for a very long time but Ven Ānanda failed to pick up the hint and "extend" indefinitely the request made by Brahma, the 7 conditions for countries and other secular organizations to remain stable and survive long in the world and the parallel set of 7 conditions for the stable survival of the sangha, the Mirror of the Dhamma (one of several, i think, that can be found in various places in the texts), by which a follower of the Buddha can know for himself or herself that he ir she is a sotapanna (streamwinner or streamenterer), etc. ...

Thanks for ā€œenlighteningā€ me. Keith Richards is somehow still alive, so I guess he wins. šŸŽø

Wow , that’s fascinating. Thanks for sharing this :

Fake news.

Buddha ate the mushrooms willingly.

And both Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta held it down better and for longer than Osho.

He liked sex and money a little too much.

Osho was literally poisoned with thallium brother,
