Lightning or straight BTC?
Lightning! Seeing it arrive instantly always helps with the orange pill :)
This is absolutely true. I was a bit off BTC because I couldn't see the possibility of paying for a drink / burger etc - can't do that when you have to wait up to 20 minutes and pay a fee higher than the cost of the drink.
LIghtning changes all that. BTC is definitely ok to use for small and fast transactions.

I've been having fun with LightSats for these (tipping) purposes. Comes with onboarding guidance and general bitcoin tutorial if curiosity brings them further. Here's a SATs tip for whoever snags it first :)

I've never even tried a printed version. I fund the tip and have them pull the QR code right off my mobile or txt them the funded tip like I did here.🤷♂️
Gotcha, I have had success just having them download a wallet and sending that way. But I do like the Lightsats onboarding process so I will consider that in the future.
The cool thing is I can tell no one has actually withdrawn the sats yet (at least of this time stamp). And they return to me if they don't go through with it.
The less cool thing is I believe recipient has to enter a mobile to authenticate/create first use of the web app... though I'm confident (enough) the devs aren't using or saving that for any other purpose and most precoiners don't care.
