On May 10, 2017, Christian Decker from Blockstream successfully completed the first fully functional, secure #Lightning payment on the Litecoin blockchain, sending a #micropayment typically impossible or impractical on the main chain. Litecoin used to be “the real-life testnet” of #Bitcoin back in the day. So while the #Lightning technology was meant for Bitcoin, nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n wanted to test it in an environment where real economic incentives existed, while Bitcoin didn’t allow lightning payments yet (UASF that allowed lightning payments happened only a couple of months later).
This is without a doubt an important part of Bitcoin history.
