3 years ago i was frightened by this perspective. Seeing the vast incompetence, corruption and lack of basic cybersecurity within 🇪🇺 I’m cautiously optimistic that it’ll at least take some time for full roll out.

This is unnecessary fear-mongering. A CBDC functions similarly to commercial bank currency (which is already digital) but operates on a full reserve basis rather than a fractional reserve system.

An aside - Marco Mendicino was the Minister of Public Safety during that ordeal, and he’s now the PMs Chief of Staff.
