How do I try out a carnivore diet? I want to eat once a day and eat just meat, for the next 40 days. What do I need to know before getting started?

What happens if I only eat chicken? No mutton because it's extremely costly, and no beef because I don't want to get myself killed.

If you’re really set on just chicken, make sure you’re not just eating the chicken breast, which is all protein. The thighs are more satisfying due to fat content.

I’d recommend mostly steak, personally. And eggs.

If you’ve never done keto before, you may feel sluggish the first week or so. This is called the “keto flu”. Your body is adapting to burn triglycerides and ketone bodies for fuel rather than carbohydrates. Your pancreas is probably over-producing insulin during this time, which will make you feel hungrier than you actually are.

The first week will be the hardest.

I think the idea is to just eat till I'm full, right? No counting calories. I'm 5'6", 24, does 4 eggs, half a kilo of chicken and some ghee a day sound good?

I have tried being a vegetarian, a fish heavy East Indian diet, and a carb heavy South Indian diet etc. Nothing much changes for me TBH. I always had issues with gaining muscle mass, no matter whether I ate once or thrice a day. But now I'm starting to have a huge mental fog and can't lift much in the gym, so going carnivore

Well, if your goal is to build mass, carnivore isn’t going to help. It’s great for your health, but not for bulking. It’ll do the opposite—you’ll get leaner.

For bulking, you need to be on a caloric surplus. It’s hard to eat enough calories for this, but easy to drink them. Add a protein shake to your diet with like 4x scoops of the powder. This will put you in caloric surplus for sure, plus you’ll have enough protein to build muscle. Consider adding creatine monohydrate to the shake while bulking.

You’ll probably gain some fat too, but you can take that off later by going back to your original diet. It sounds like you probably have an ectomorphic body type, so slimming down post-bulk shouldn’t be tough.
