This is surprising. I wouldn't have thought a mining pool would offer to do a refund. Though, it's also a good publicity stunt for them.

My adversarial brain is wary that this will be a case for more KYC on mining pools
The person who screwed up can proof control over the funds prior to the accident. No KYC needed. To pay out more than $10k it's still sensible to ask for ID.
