This is something we are actively working on! In fact, we are doing some user testing on a Nostr Report Premium service where you get access to stories as we add them to the draft report.

There are three issues need resolution in #nostr
1. private encrypted chat
2. group version of (1)
3. relay operator profit sharing
although I do think those three things are important and needed… I think the more rich the content is, the more you will want to run your own pay to read relay. I could envision a nostr report community, like a locals page, that would include early access and extra content, could host channels that function much like discord for different topic submissions. The main report would still be propagated out for reach.
I think the sale pitch to most journalists to own where the content lives not just sign will be super important to them and to compete with the offering of repo based protocols… it is possible here, it’s just different than what we are currently doing.
Yes sir! We are actively working on private chat, and will be devising a group chat version as well, but as of right now this is the active NIP we are implementing POCs for that should be out soon: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/410
As for paid relays, as maintainers of Nostream we’ve done a lot of work to help people host their own relays and that’s something we are working on as well. We have something we’ll be releasing for this in the near future that we’re very excited about 🤩
