So there’s going to be a different problem with that age verification proposal of EU. You’ll need officially Google- (and Apple-) approved firmware, otherwise your phone’s processor won’t give an attestation and the age verification won’t go through. Goodbye Linux, goodbye GrapheneOS, goodbye LineageOS. Only corporate systems.

We will have to prove we are over 16 here come December to use anything our government considers social media, everything from YouTube to playing Minecraft online will be illegal for 16 and under.
The digital id is going to be the "convenient" "easy" way to verify who you are.
I'm sure the age limit will get overturned once enough people sign up for the digital id, then they'll just make the id itself mandatory.
The corporations just want to be able to track all of us better, to understand our purchasing habits and whatever else, to sell more garbage to us that makes us stupid and weak.

Yes and no. Their problem with app store monopolies is that the payments go through them. They don't have a problem with control over free apps. They actually enjoy it that they can kick out non compliant apps.
In their worldview it's not that you are able to replace one store with another, but that you have a choice to use multiple stores.
