No, that's not how any of this works.

Yes. We called them sats nobody expect us did. Only plebs. It’s time to un-nerd it and help the adoption. I love sats but the public will never learn.

Just replacing sats with bits without over complicating anything.

100 million Bits in one Bitcoin. Bits are neat.

“Bits” have been defined for over a decade as meaning 100 sats, or 1 million to 1 BTC. We can’t just go around changing things at random and expect anyone to follow. Also, bits already has a meaning as a way to measure data storage. Bits is not happening.

I knooooow. Doesn’t matter even less people use them than satoshis. Doesn’t matter.

100M Bits = 1 whole #Bitcoin

That’s how you make Bitcoin easier for whole planet that doesn’t want to buy Bitcoin because it’s too expensive.

“What the fuck is a satoshi!? I want Bitcoin!”

“ - What is a Bit?

- One whole Bitcoin is 100 million Bits.

- Oh, then I can get 1 million Bits today. Sweet!”

Why do you think bits will be understood but sats not ?

BIT… COIN?

That makes some sense. And a "Bitcoin" would be a whole coin, right? All 100 million bits. This is the current status, it just changes the name "sats" or "satoshis" to "bits". But I don't think this solves the other problems people want to solve by changing the nomenclature.

No changes to protocol. Only new names so it’s easier for public who doesn’t own Bitcoin yet. Now they can own literally a Bit of Bitcoin. They always could but putting it in the name makes everyone hungry for their own part of Bitcoin.

“What is a satoshi bro!?” No more nerdy stuff for public. Time to get serious boys.

It solves nothing except to further confuse everyone.

BitcoinSats? 😅

Or bitsats for short? 😄

Muting this whole fucking thread.

🤣

😂

No

When talking to friends and family about it and helping them self custody as well setting their weekly dca, it's been helpful to convey to them that they're saving bits of a bitcoin. I can see their wheels turn a lot faster as this verbiage makes their savings goal clearer vs when I explain this using sats instead.

Letting them know that they can aim for a savings rate of 3,000 bits of a bitcoin every week (example) feels much clearer IMO. (without the decimal point)

Give people the option on exchanges as well as wallets (phoenix wallet has bits) and then let folks decide. All I’m saying is let bits get in the ring. 🙌🏾

For the dozen or so normies I’ve been lucky to have listen to me setting up their nodes, bitkeys, cold cards etc, while they get sats and go on with their lives, the ones I’ve tried saving bits of bitcoin on, they REALLY got it and it made sense to them that bits are a smaller amount of a bitcoin because the link between the two words is just a shorter jump to make.

I got no prob with sats. I’d be happy if wallets and exchanges considered bits as another option and then let the normie free market decide.

Bit is already a unit of information. You don't just change the name of a unit for another already in use.

Who is changing unit of information? 😂 You can go nerdy and stick to sats or have global adoption. You have two different miles. Having. Just because there is Bits of Bitcoin, won’t change anything for unit of information.

Aaaaand we can still call them sats as well. Dollars are called bucks too and its all good.

Nobody is changing the unit of information, nobody has claimed that. The fact you confuse what I said with that shows you're either intellectually dishonest or plain thick.

We have two different miles because that was adopted before international standarization standards were developed, and it's being kept because of its historical reasons. Nowadays, new units are not named the same as exiting units.

If Sats are nerdy, so are Watts, Joules, Newtons, Pascals, Ohm... that hasn't stopped them from being used and accepted as standard units despite most people not knowing who they are named after. If you really think changing sats to bits has any effect on adoption, I have a bridge to sell you in Dubai.

Try. Try telling a 2 people there is 100 million Bits in one Bitcoin. And then try the same but with sats. Come back to them in a week time. Tell me which one remembers.

Nope. It’s sats bruh

Sats 🤝 ₿its

We all Bitcoin
