It’s real bitcoin! Just optimized for small amounts. My best advice is to download wallet of Satoshi, copy the lightning address it gives you into your profile and I will send you some sats (the smallest unit of bitcoin). It’s fun and you can slowly learn more about it. Lots of helpful bitcoiners here.

Installed it but saw its a custodial wallet? Are there other options for mobile? A buddy told me custodial means I don't own my bitcoin....
Yes that’s right! And good job for your buddy telling you that especially in regard to bitcoin. However, the lightning network is still a young technology so self custodial options have their drawbacks right now, the main one being they are unreliable to receive payments when your phone isn’t on. The current best practice, in my opinion, is to use wallet of Satoshi to receive payments, then after you accumulate enough sats that you would be upset to lose, transfer it to a self custodial lightning wallet like Phoenix.
