was there no rogue pirate stream of the open source stage? the livestream content of the ₿ conf has degraded severely over the past 5 years.

the keynote speeches included in the livestream were largely cut short on the beginning and end just so they could quickly bring back their desk panelists to ask the same tired questions about politicians and political policy.

it is fine for them to put their focus primarily into one domain, but it's annoying that it feels like it's only at the omission of the other talks and discussion happening. we don't want much, just a single camera wide view of the stage + PowerPoint, a few microphones, and an audio interface.

tis a shame

Missed this, will check for it 🤙

Fortunately Bitcoin Magazine doesn't own Bitcoin, so true Bitcoiners that get it can start a newer better Bitcoin conference, and get back to Bitcoin instead making it a political convention.

Does next year's venue at the Venician in LV amplify that "wrong direction" sentiment in your estimation?

not really, at least not for me. I think moving the location of the conference is good; the die hards will travel no matter where, and you can inspire locals to go who otherwise wouldn't make a trek.

I personally understand Bitcoin Magezine is a company with their own incentives and will highlight in "the bitcoin world" will be beneficial to them first and foremost

I am personally more interested in the discussions happening on the OS stage, and would appreciate one camera pointed that way. I don't expect the same production value as what they're pouring into the main stage. but I'm just one pleb with an opinion - clearly not their intended audience lol.

thankfully there are other more technical conferences to fill the gap; but I feel like this conference has the platform to do more, and do it better.

I was mostly referring to the opulence of the venue. it's one thing to have it at a municipal convention center whether in Miami, Nashville, or Los Vegas. But the Venician looks more like a wedding venue all glitzy with marble and gold. Does that send the right message?

ah I understand what you mean now.

to me this is like a crypto bro flexing their new lambo; they are flexing their wealth and influence to self-validate their own perceived status. fiat behavior from the Magezine. imo, the wrong direction to move.

Whoever picked Memorial Weekend to have the Bitcoin Conference 2025 in Las Vegas is an idiot. That’s one of the busiest weekends in Vegas for the year. Hotel rooms and flights are going to be astronomical. 😅

Beyond that it’s elitist AF.

1. #BTC is for the people. Many people spend time with their families or friends on Memorial weekend.

2. It can easily price out a majority of users.

Whoever picked to have the conference in Vegas Memorial Weekend is either not American so they don’t know US holidays or they’re just a complete idiot or maybe both lol. Memorial weekend number one destination for Americans is Las Vegas.
