An Irish exit is when you leave a social situation (a party or larger gathering, for example) without saying goodbye to your host or to other guests.

It isn't used among the Irish themselves, which suggests that it originated in America.

I’m a big fan of the (Irish Exit ^ 2), which is just cutting out the middleman and not going in the first place.
