The Strong Borders Act (Bill C-2) has several restrictive and surveillance-related components beyond the $10,000 cash ban:

1. Expanded Lawful Access: The bill introduces new provisions for warrantless access to information about internet subscribers, global production orders for subscriber data, and greater access to data held by electronic service providers, raising privacy concerns. In short, it forces companies like twitter to hand over data without a warrant.

2. Mail Search Powers: Law enforcement and Canada Post would be able to open mail during investigations without a warrant, removing previous barriers to mail searches in efforts to curb drug trafficking.

3. Tracking devices: There is vague wording on ‘peace officers’ being allowed to install tracking devices in technology without a warrant in some situations. I haven’t look into this deeply yet.

I feel safer already 🙃
