Yes, a bigger bowl is better, especially if she does color changes in her pieces, but also can be hard to find.

Tall is nice to keep yarn from bouncing out.

Something I’ve recently seen that is pretty cool is yarn BOXES - they have lids!

Most yarn bowls have a kind of loopy cutout section as well as a couple of holes. I’d favor extra loop sections over lots of holes if there’s any chance she might switch projects.

Apparently the (cheaper) wood ones if not sanded good, can snag the yarn.

Ohhh didn't think of that but yeah makes sense. It's gotta be real smooth. If it snags that's a dealbreaker
