This is a reasonable question. Freak accidents happen more often than you’d think. I worked in a trauma center for over a decade and saw many people with no insurance end up in terrible situations. For example, an 18-year-old kid was driving on the freeway to visit his girlfriend when a construction sign blew over and the post went straight through his chest. He survived, but his medical bills were astronomical. I assume he eventually settled on some kind of payment plan, but if you’re uninsured, you should have a plan in place for emergencies, especially if you’re holding a stack of sats you want to protect from liquidation, and even more importantly if you have kids or a family to provide for.
