Everyone else seems to want more tech in their future. More wired. More connected.

I want less, far less.

In my future - growing food, hunting and making fire is tech.

Same here. I’m on the path towards it. God is great.

But you told me you don't plan to quit the addiction to flying helicopters.

In fact you started shit with me over it while having far more followers than me and I ended up being really abusive to a friend of yours during one of my constant mental breakdowns.

Did you change your mind since then or what?

No I don't plan to quite flying. What I do is none of your concern.

No one else is responsible for your behaviours than you.

Polluting my air and using the crude oil of my planet is my concern actually.

Why are you bitching at me about how you can't take responsibility for your own actions?

I had a similar thought in the shower this morning. I was thinking about how it would be if everything was simpler and found myself asking: if you could revert back to a state of less tech (or even none) would you do it? I absolutely would accept that shift.

This is why people are longing for medieval times. As a peasant you worked 4 months a year. Had plenty of free time. You knew your place in the world. Everyone was practically equally poor.

You can do the same thing with abundance.

Choosing a much simpler life despite the abundance and convenience.

In the past it was a privilege to have a smartphone by your side at all times.

In the future it will be a privilege to not need one.

Most wage-workers will hardly ever know the freedom of not checking their emails every 10 minutes or answer every incoming call.

It already is a privilege to not need one

You are correct sir. If I would edit my previous note I could πŸ˜‚

Thank you sir

I prefer more wired over wireless 😜

But you are right …. alex sometimes you sound much wiser than your age would suggest

your children will be able to learn a lot from you πŸ«‚πŸ’œ

πŸ«‚

I hope to be a good parent.

I want that too πŸ˜…

realize lately how important this is to me compared to all the other bullshit in the world

You do have one coming! I can imagine.

It is extremely important to me because I didn't have good ones. In fact, one was missing my entire life.

That sounds tough! makes it more impressive what you have achieved so far!

i had a great father, he was a real engineer. He would have been my no1 companion on any expedition. no matter what broke, he could fix it. I had an old opel astra as my first car πŸ˜… he swapped almost every part with me.

thanks for the reminder! πŸ’œ

You’d be great :)

I feel the same, back to the roots

Nomad is a lifestyle, with minimal technology and especially only when necessary πŸ«‚πŸ•ŠοΈ

Less is more.

Less plastic and reduce tech with less of better tech

Gotta keep my Gortex jacket though : )

It is not about low tech or high tech. It is about tech controlled by you or by companies etc. Possibly you can self host some higher tech than making fire. There is nothing wrong about that, if it is energy sufficient

I wasn't talking about high or low either. I was talking about less to none vs more.

Yeah. But do you remember that prehistoric guy called Otzi that his body found frozen somewhere in the Alps? He had a stone knife, a copper axe with him etc. This means he used the most modern tech of his time and he used as much tech of his time as possible. Which is far less than what you or me will ever use. That to me means, it is not bad to use tech. It is the kind of tech we use that matters. That's what i mean...

I know. I am not saying it is bad either. I want less. I want simple.

Maybe you want analog, not digital πŸ˜€

Mostly analogue and mechanical.

I can certainly relate. If it weren't for bitcoin and nostr, I wouldn't mind cutting it off completely, but technology has certainly helped in many ways. I do miss the simpler times of my past, but if I went back to those times, I'm sure I would miss a lot of the positive tech of our times.
