Not sure what you mean by ephemeral seed. But always transfer a small amount first, wipe the device then restore to make sure your new seed phrase is correct then transfer the rest of the funds.

Also this is why I like to have a few of the same device, makes it simpler to migrate funds or upgrade one device.
Ephemeral seeds as i understand them are a cold card feature that generates a new seed in the devices RAM memory. Ephemeral because the seed is wiped when the device powers off.
You're right about the multiple devices. It would be easier. I'm kicking myself for not getting another, i recently ordered my queen a coloured one and decided not to get another because i want the new model 😅

I didn’t realize the CC had that function. If you have your backup on site, I think it’d be simpler to wipe the CC, generate a new seed, test, then transfer funds.
If your using Sparrow its pretty straightforward.
