I think there is not a single chance that #nostr will become the main microblogging social networking environment or even be mass adopted as long as it maintains this native #bitcoin integration with things like payments for a feature as basic as taking a survey. In this way it cannot be considered a true social network for free speech.

Currently nostr focuses on bitcoiners, not the general public. It's a shame because it has great potential.

I see that there are many users here in #nostr more interested in getting some extra sats than interacting and sharing quality content. That will not help to improve this community.

Nostr is a protocol for the internet and everyone. It's way bigger than "social media". Right now the current network is full of bitcoiners because really they're the ones building decentralized things. Anyone can develop a client that has payments using another currency, btw.

If you want to talk about other things, just do it and you'll find like minded people. 🙂 We're all here to build community and a better internet.

I've got to ask, why the negativity toward Bitcoin? Decentralized sensorship resistant payments are required when building a decentralized network, and Bitcoin fits that well.

Yes. I understand it is a protocol intended to be more than just a social network. Bitcoiners are not the only people building decentralized things.

I think that a social network for notes sharing should be totally decoupled from any currency or payment system. In my opinion it should be just a place to discuss and share content.

I don't have any particular issue against bitcoin. I just think it is very very far away to be the thing that is going cause an important change in the world to make it a better place for all.

Sounds boring. Plebs need sats

Get a helmet.

Well, are you even at least trying to post other shit? Or are you just fucking complaining

I can do both
