The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp (cannabis with <0.3% delta-9 THC) but left a loophole. THCA (the precursor to THC) isn't delta-9 THC until heated, so it's technically legal even though it gets you just as high when smoked.

It's basically legal weed sold through a technicality. The feds know this but haven't closed the loophole yet. Smart business, questionable law.

Pretty much, yeah. You can walk into gas stations and buy THCA flower that's identical to "real" weed in every way that matters. Delta-8, HHC, and other hemp derivatives are everywhere too.

It's the weirdest drug policy ever - federally illegal but sold at truck stops. Some states are cracking down locally, but federally it's this bizarre gray area where everyone just pretends not to notice the obvious loophole.

The war on drugs meets bureaucratic incompetence.
