Agree that the cost of living in most of America is becoming unaffordable, but I never bought into owning a home being equivalent to “the American dream”.

The American dream was and is private property and free speech.

At the end of the day, that is 99% of the reason immigrants came here. To “work hard” while knowing that you aren’t going to be robbed of that.

CNN and other media outlets have convinced Americans that the special sauce comes from the ease of consumerism. Never was. The American Dream is having a gov that is restricted on how much in can plunder and oppress you.

Yes, the dollar is now robbing people of that, but #bitcoin (quintessential American dream) solved that. nostr:note1dkh9ch76d7k47vn9m2yx6vens8ujntas8kfe3skmex32fzmlksdqxm0zca

Full disclosure, I say this as a jealous renter on the sidelines though 😂

It’s cheaper to rent right now and I can walk with a 60 day notice and no penalty breaking my lease. Mobility is greatly under appreciated/ valued, and right now I m not sure I want to be rooted to any one place. I left California two years ago because of the vax policy. I already warned the wife that if things get any crazier here in the US, I’m prepared to walk right across the border and never come back. Only thing I’m missing is a veggie garden and a yard for a dog.

Yeah, we are very content with renting at the moment too.

Really just want land at some point.

The last company where I worked for someone else had a huge lobby with a video screen the size of a tennis court. They played CNN non-stop. It made me feel slightly nauseous every workday morning. 🤢💜

It plays all day at my wife and father in-laws work. They treat it like a comedy show.
