lol…epic is taking over the world.

When I was an internal medicine intern, I wrote software to interface with epic and create my scut sheets.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/scutmonkey-md/

Initially I got really excited about AI interfacing with epic so that it could write all my notes.

Then I almost immediately realized this’ll just mean they’ll triple my patient encounters per day after this is rolled out.

I used the dot phrases for sections of notes…like .pex would insert my normal full physical exam and .ros was wall the routine medically unnecessary stuff to ensure maximal dollar extraction at the command of my intern year institution. I had a bunch of dot phrases for treatment plans like .romi or .chf…

Ever hear of the T-sheet system for the ED? It’s brilliant. Maybe 50 canned notes on physical paper for common conditions and all you have to do is cross stuff off that’s untrue.

.dot phrases are a lifesaver but I made my so elaborate/beautiful that sometimes it’s quicker to just write “1. DKA. Treat via DKA pathway” 😆

I’d love to whip out some t sheets during a system update when everything’s down

I love .age .sex … don’t even have to know the most basic of info to write a note :)

my base template for plan 😆

What?
