I had a discussion with a long time friend, we were both collecting old video games but I stopped when I had kid and at the same time got into Bitcoin. He went the other way, didn't have kid, went full on collecting and, at least he got some bitcoins as well, but sold some to buy more rare games and consoles.
I told him I sold some of my items to get more bitcoins, he told me I was crazy, even a 250$ Nintendo 3DS from 5-6 years ago is now worth more than a Switch 2. Then I reminded him that these 250$ put into Bitcoin 5 years ago would worth much more than that anyway. He stopped the discussion right here.
In the end, he is enjoying collectin all these and I agree that if he would decide to stop and sell one day, he would make a some profit (if he find a buyer for everything or most valuable items at least) but nobody should do that only as an investment. It's a hobby that retain some value but not an investmemt.
They are so lost... typical first world kids problems
