I still am not sure how to feel about Drivechains. Thanks for sharing 🤙

Without even getting into drivechain itself, I don’t agree with the two premises that:

1) we need to change bitcoin to increase transaction fees and

2) that users wait on “developer priests” to bless new features on bitcoin

I see that transaction fees in the last 24 hours total 20 btc. That seems plenty sufficient to get finality within a few blocks.

Plus, if bitcoin remains a niche dark net money in the future, governments are not going to waste money attacking it. If it’s widely used, there will be demand for blockspace and fees will be high. The problem takes care of itself.

In regard to 2), anyone can fork bitcoin right now to implement anything they want. How do drivechains help here? If anything, drivechains make that process worse, because these forks now spill into the mining incentives
