It's still Bitcoin country, but maybe not the bastion of freedom I thought it once was. Bukele seems to be just as much of a gangster as the ones he rounded up.
Seen interviews people claiming he’s made deals with some gangs to snitch on their rivals
Seen reports he's gone after journalists and possibly had them killed.
Considering he’s renting out room in his prison to the US, it’s not surprising
I also try to be cautious about that. While I can agree that El Salvador is safer than it used to be, I’m concerned that calling it the land of freedom and free speech might not be entirely accurate.
