Peak core devs in their own echo chamber. Yes people care about content being lost. People will not use an app if they're not 100% sure their content will be preserved into the future. It's like... A big aspect of content... Creation... Why TF do I spend time making content if I'm not sure it'll be accessible at any point in the future. Censorship resistance is pointless if I can ensure the content is kept for whatever arbitrary reason. Users: Run your own relay. Clients: Implement outbox.

It's the whole fucking point.

Isn't content persistence a relay issue rather than a protocol issue? Someone could run a relay that promises to preserve all your content. Doing so is a responsibility that not every relay wants to take, especially given that people are running relays for free.

That's why you run your own relay. But clients are useless I they're not using outbox and your relay is not in someone else's list. They won't see your posts. The issue is not with relays as I would advocate to run your own. The issue is with clients not fetching other notes based on a users relay. Say If I write to my relay and you follow me but my relay is not in your list, if the client isn't using outbox, you won't see my posts.

Which clients have outbox? Is that a NIP that some clients don't implement?

I have a list somewhere but off the top of my head, in the middle of the ocean, I'll say 0xChat, Amethyst, Snort, Gossip, Iris, Nostrudel, and anything that uses the NDK.

Have a great trip.

nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn you should document and promote your Welshman library for Nostr. It’s this secret gem.

Oh, thanks, I'm glad you like it! I am actually working on documenting it as of a couple weeks ago. What in particular do you like about it?

I think the note you're quoting is referring to finding *all* available notes including those that you will never see or interact with because the account is way outside of your circle. Nostr made a good tradeoff here.
