How can I trust Bitcoiners who don't even realize the US's stablecoin ploy?

It's so easy.

John buys USDT > Tether those dollars Invests in US bonds and earns a return > US finances itself

John gets a worthless currency and inflation in return, a lose-lose situation for John.

The Trump administration is only using Bitcoin to promote itself, making you believe it's pro-Bitcoin, but they simply have to shoehorn that narrative in to make stablecoins the standard because they've found the goose that lays the golden eggs to finance themselves.

What better way than to extend the use of the dollar to every corner of the world? Seriously, you guys are delusional.

There are even Bitcoiners who are in favor of stablecoins, which are useful, but fucking retarded, why do you want a stablecoin when you have Lightning and Bitcoin is at a minimum in terms of volatility?

Your definition of a bitcoiner differs from mine.

affinity scam. like a dozen other influencoors on X claiming to be bitcoiners and shilling shitcoins. max keiser. jameson lopp. corey klippsten. michael saylor. mister psyops jack dorsey. and they all have ties to people like peter thiel, elon musk, and the rest of the technocracy singularity kurzweil transhumanist people.

I think some of us “don’t completely hate” stable coins because they are a bridge for normies to get to bitcoin.

Let’s remember how the average person is….it’s hard to expect them to go from Fiat to btc directly

Getting them used to have a wallet, pay with it, manage utxo, is a great way to get them used to it. Once they got familiar with it switching to btc is a very short step.

Ideally you’d want ppl to go directly to btc, but let’s be real, this is a necessary (unpleasant) middle step for most ppl

In my life, I have never heard of or used stablecoins to obtain bitcoin.

Have you used robosats or lnp2pbot?

Sorry maybe I didn’t express myself well, basically: some ppl would not use btc because it is too foreign to them, but they would use usdt (because its the dollar, it’s familiar enough to them).

But, once they get use to using a wallet for usdt, it’s easier for them to embrace btc and use it because they feel more secure in using a wallet and btc feels less alien.

It’s basically a away to onboard ppl to btc through usdt

Like you said if someone has already made up his mind to use btc he needs no usdt, he can get it directly via robosats, bisq etc

The only good thing about stablecoins is it provides a survival alternative for poor people in places without access to the least weak fiat currencies, as well as their inability to deal with bitcoin's fiat denominated volatility as it is now. To all the rest it is indeed just a fiat extention.

This ☝️

What? Yes, stablecoins give people in Malawi or Argentina access to a fiat currency that is less inflationary than their own. But so what? Bitcoin is less volatile and definitely less inflationary than USD stablecoins, and can be used completely anonymously and without KYC or any outside control when used over the lightning network.

I wasn't making a case for stablecoins. I was just saying it can be of help to some for a short duration. So I don't demonise its existence as much, but it's just another disaster waiting to happen yeah.

Stablecoins are shitcoins. Promoted first by "Bitcoiners" like Adam Back via his Blockstream - ifinex connection.

Real Bitcoiners failed reaching the people and making clear that Bitcoin is foremost an alternative currency that is meant to be used.

They fell for Adam Backs "bitcoin gold" pivot and the later pumping by the fiat money printer.

You’d have to be either evil or incredibly gullible to believe the Trump administration is “pro-Bitcoin.” What they’re really “pro” is making themselves richer while they still can. Let’s be real these people created and rugged pure shitcoins, and now we’re supposed to think they suddenly care about Bitcoin? Not in this universe.

Sure, some of their actions might accidentally benefit Bitcoin, but that’s not their goal. They don’t give a damn about it. They’re professional politicians cheaters, scammers, liars. Anyone who trusts them is either naive or compromised. And if you’re relying on someone like that for information, you’d better double-check everything they say like you would with small children as you can not trust them to know reality around themselves for what it is.

I don't know why you think any of our opinions matter to the decisions that the US govt & US treasury makes.

I'm pretty sure they know they're letting in a Trojan horse & they also think that they can contain it.

I know it's going to be good for Bitcoin.

When did I say that our opinions influence the government or matter to them? 🤷‍♂️

It's not a trojan horse at all. Bitcoiners don't spend Bitcoin, never will, governments know it'll never be anything but digital gold and therefore no more of a threat than real gold.

Wholeheartedly agree. I think the only time I ever used a stablecoin was because I thought I had received normal dollars (I had to pay bills, so had to sell a little corn).

Bitcoin is just a tool! Many are mixing “having bitcoin” with a sort of “übermensch” religion. Don’t trust…
